Best Time to Paint Exterior

Getting your exterior painted at the right time is crucial to having a long lasting protected surface.

When painting your exterior there is a few things to take into consideration including the weather, other construction, and any repairs that need to be completed.

Before starting your project its important to walk around your property and inspect any wood, concrete, stucco, or other areas you need to paint. Look for wood rot, stucco damage or any other needed repairs.

Next you can determine what time is best to paint. Any projects on the exterior should be done more towards the end of spring and before mid fall. These tend to be the best days since there is little to no rain fall. Depending on your location will depend when your warmer days fall in.

You'll typically want a week of no rain and decently warm weather before and after your project. This is because your paint needs time to properly bond to the surface before it is exposed to moisture. Too cold of weather will not allow the paint to properly bond and may cause chipping, peeling, or cracks in your paint.

If you decided to paint on Friday and finish on Monday. You would need it to be warmer of above 70 Degrees Fahrenheit with no chance of rain. The degree depends on your climate including the moisture, time of day, and month of year. You'd want 7 days before Friday and 7 days after Monday with no rain to allow proper bonding.
